Fab-Slab’s first kitchen countertops delivered and installed!

Jim Ojamaa and I delivered our first kitchen countertop suite today.
Both Jim and I were nervous, hoping we had thought of every fabrication detail and finish detail.
The fitment turned out beautifully, the surfaces sumptuous and unusual… we are very pleased with the outcome!
These pictures were been taken prior to artist Toni De Lisa, of the [...]

Part of doing business…

Jim and I were concerned with transporting heavy concrete slabs safely and effectively in my pick up truck.
We designed and fabricated an A-frame slab caddy out of scrap steel and wood 2×4’s.
Jim masterminded the wood slider sections and I fabbed up the the steel A-frames.

The other cool thing…. I just received Dwellings’ PO for the replacement coffee table!
Turn the production machine on and crank it up!
On another exciting front….
I am gathering [...]

A sweet/suite of cast concrete furniture.

I have finished Chris McMillan’s/Dwellings furniture suite.
The pieces are simple, versatile, and very nice looking.
I have taken some photos taken at Dwellings… the pieces look much better than they did in my basement!
As an aside, the coffee table slab is 8 square feet. At 18.75 lbs. per sq. foot, that would be 150 lbs. of [...]

What’s going on? Pretty much!

I have some concrete process breakthroughs I want to share with you…
First, I am now a concrete aggregate exposer…
I bought a diamond cup wheel for my water fed grinder/polisher. It is a aggressive way to remove concrete or stone surface material. The method is not for the meek though! The cup wheel cuts through concrete [...]
